Resumo

The Flamboyant is a forest specie that, although widely used in the decoration and greening of cities, is poorly studied mainly concerning their morphology. Thus, the aim of this study was to characterize biometrically seeds and fruits of Flamboyant grown in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia State, Brazil. Biometric study was conducted at Southwest Bahia State University. After collecting the fruit, held in mother trees located in the urban area of Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, were selected 30 fruits and 100 seeds for evaluation. The following characteristics were analyzed: length, width, thickness, mass of fruits and seeds and the number of seeds per fruit. The data were submitted to descriptive statistics and for every feature we calculated the mean, median, mode, standard deviation and variance. The fruits and seeds of Flamboyant showed wide variability for evaluated characteristics.
