BACKGROUND: Adventure Racing (AR) is characterized as a sport developed in natural environments, integrating multiple disciplines. Its practice requires high physical fitness, strategic planning, and cooperation among team members.
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the adherence and retention of women across editions of the 'Women's Adventure Race' event, held in Paraná State between 2022 and 2025.
METHODS: A total of 215 athletes registered across the four editions of the Women's AR. Data regarding participants' sports profiles were collected via an electronic form on Google Forms® and analyzed using descriptive statistics.
RESULTS: In 2022, 64 registrations were recorded, including 30 experienced athletes. In 2023, 52 registrations were recorded, including 24 experienced athletes. In 2024, a significant increase was observed, with 164 registrations, including 61 beginners. In 2025, 152 registrations were identified, including 22 beginners. The findings indicate growth of the event and a trend toward balance between participant profiles.
CONCLUSION: It is concluded that the event promotes both recruitment of new female practitioners and retention of experienced women in AR, contributing to the consolidation of female participation in the sport. Establishing further partnerships associations, projects, and institutions is suggested to enable additional events with these characteristics, thereby expanding opportunities that foster female participation in adventure sports.
