Abstract

Sustainability is currently the focus of most projects, whether in urban areas but also in rural areas, and this article aims to conduct a literature review on the sustainability of family farming in small rural cassava producing properties in order to answer the following question: what are the current discussions on the topic addressed in scientific work and research already conducted on the subject? The main findings indicate that there is a set of adaptable to all realities ideal indicators, and the need to consider the individuality of each case studied. Sustainability indicators are present in the family farm, but not enough to guarantee it in the economic, social and environmental dimensions. On the cultivation of cassava, it was observed that the chain of cassava is still quite uneven and creates uncertainty for the producers and for the industries, since the supply of raw material is different every year depending on numerous variables that affect and affect the supply.
