Empatia no trabalho: revisão sistemática e novos caminhos a percorrer

A empatia no trabalho tem se revelado um importante recurso para promover relações sociais positivas no ambiente laboral. No entanto, indivíduos que frequentemente adotam comportamentos empáticos podem acabar sobrecarregados e exaustos. Diante disso, esta pesquisa busca mapear a produção científica internacional e identificar novas possibilidades de estudo sobre a empatia no trabalho. Esta revisão sistemática da literatura foi realizada nas bases de dados Scopus e Web of Science, seguindo o protocolo PRISMA. Os resultados indicaram que as pesquisas sobre o tema abrangem o período de 2011 a 2024, evidenciando a contemporaneidade da temática. Foram identificados três eixos principais: dimensões e implicações da empatia; empatia e sua relação com clientes e marcas; e empatia em diferentes contextos laborais. As proposições estabelecidas podem orientar pesquisas futuras, oferecendo excelentes oportunidades para o avanço do conhecimento na área. Os resultados também revelaram que a empatia possui um lado obscuro, decorrente do alto envolvimento emocional. Além disso, foi proposto um modelo que pode auxiliar gestores na compreensão desse comportamento e na formulação de práticas e políticas organizacionais que incentivem comportamentos empáticos, equilibrando os aspectos cognitivo e afetivo da empatia.
