In this article, we seek to revisit the novel Macunaíma, published in 1928 by Mário de Andrade, and today a classic of Brazilian culture, with analytical focus on the character Ci, the Mother of the Jungle, the hero's eternal love. In the work, there is a revisiting of the legends of the Icamiabas, through dialogue with the Greek myth of the Amazons, in which the character, endowed with physical strength and living sexuality and motherhood freely from the standards, claims her autonomy. Despite suffering violence in an unequal fight with the hero, by choosing to depart for the sky against Macunaíma's will, Ci affirms her feminine subjectivity and individuality.
