About the Journal

NeoKrísis – Journal of Political and Legal Theories (eISSN 3086-7126) is an open-access academic journal affiliated with the NeoKrísis Research Group at the Western Paraná State University – UNIOESTE. It is devoted to publishing studies in the fields of Political Theories and Legal Theories and welcomes research on Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Law, Theory of the State, Democracy, Human Rights, Justice, Ethics, Constitutionalism, Peace, War, Sovereignty, Institutions, and related subjects. Its target readership comprises researchers, faculty members, postgraduate students, professionals, and others interested in these fields of knowledge.

Its editorial policy is guided by a commitment to scientific quality, academic integrity, theoretical pluralism, methodological rigour, argumentative clarity, and the democratisation of access to knowledge. The journal publishes original and previously unpublished contributions in the sections Research Articles, Essays, Book Reviews, Translations, Interviews, First Steps, and Thematic Dossiers, provided that they fall within its aims and scope and comply with its established editorial guidelines.

NeoKrísis does not charge fees for submission, evaluation, editorial processing, publication, or access to published works. No payment is required from authors at any stage of the editorial process. All content is made immediately available, without an embargo period, under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), and authors retain the copyright to their works. Works published in the journal’s academic sections are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), contributing to their identification, location, citation, and preservation in the digital environment.

The journal is published semiannually, with two issues per year covering the periods January–June and July–December. It follows a continuous publication model, whereby each issue begins with the publication of the Masthead and the Editorial, while the remaining approved works are published progressively throughout the semester after completion of the evaluation, editorial review, standardisation, and production stages.

NeoKrísis accepts original and previously unpublished submissions in Portuguese, Spanish, English, Italian, and French. Manuscripts must fully comply with the journal’s editorial guidelines and include a title, abstract, and keywords in the original language of the work and in English. When a work is written in a language other than Portuguese, authors are also encouraged to provide its title, abstract, and keywords in Portuguese in order to broaden its circulation among Brazilian and Latin American readers.

All submissions will initially be examined by the Editorial Committee, which will assess their conformity with the journal’s aims and scope, authorship requirements, formal submission guidelines, use of the appropriate template, and minimum standards of academic quality. Manuscripts intended for peer-reviewed sections and considered suitable at this preliminary stage will be sent to at least two independent ad hoc reviewers under a double-anonymous peer-review system. Reviewers will be selected according to their academic qualifications, the relevance of their expertise to the subject of the work, the absence of conflicts of interest, and the preservation of confidentiality. The final publication decision will be made by the editorial team based on the reports received and the journal’s policies.
