Performance o f t he Environmental Military Police o f Santa Catarina i n Natural Disasters
Abstract
This literature review aimed to explore the role of the Environmental Military Police of Santa Catarina in situations of natural disasters, considering the increasing number of extreme weather events that have affected the entire world, especially the region. Using a broad theoretical-methodological framework, the study analyzed documents, official reports, articles, and historical records that describe and assess the intervention of this institution in calamity episodes. The results reveal a multifaceted role of the Environmental Military Police, extending beyond traditional policing responsibilities to encompass rescue operations, logistical support, and collaborative work with other emergency response agencies. The analysis highlighted the continuous improvement of practices and strategies adopted by the institution, reflecting the importance of preparedness and training to handle disaster situations. In conclusion, this study underscores the vital role played by the Environmental Military Police of Santa Catarina in responding to and mitigating natural disasters, emphasizing the need for ongoing investments in training and resources to ensure effective and coordinated action.
