Resumen

In early 1957, the Factory Carmen joined the Maceió’s Committee of Conciliation and Judgment with a judicial inquiry against practical nurse José Aquino Correia. The reasons: the disappearance of several tubes of penicillin from a cupboard in the outpatient business and the fact that the cabinet has been opened with another key, since José Aquino did not have the original key - no access to the compartment. Possessing stability guaranteed by law, the nurse could only be fired via the Labor Court. The survey generated a voluminous process (almost 200 pages), showing the course of the investigation in detail. But not only that. The legal dispute also reveals how workers had access to medical services offered by the factory owner and the drugs, the operation of the clinic and major illnesses acquired on behalf of the service.
