Abstract

The article examines, from a critical and interdisciplinary perspective, Theodor W. Adorno and Sigmund Freud theoretical conceptions regarding the structural elements of fascism, through an articulation of the social and psychoanalytical components that shape the dynamics of this phenomenon. Drawing on Freud’s concepts of the death drive and the life drive, the narcissism of minor differences, and the emergence of an authoritarian personality, it discusses how economic and cultural structures support the legitimation of violence and perpetuate hate discourses. It further highlights how the points of articulation in Freudian psychoanalytical thought intersect with Adorno’s critical theory, providing tools for the potential decoding of the subjective and historical processes that underpin authoritarian regimes and fostering both political and subjective resistance to fascism.
