Abstract

This article is a study of Freud's Outline of Psychoanalysis, in which I seek to expose the importance of the work as a doctrinal synthesis of psychoanalysis. In this context, the structuring of the psychosomatic subject will be investigated, emphasizing the theory of libido and the unconscious dimension of personality. Furthermore, the Oedipus Complex will also be analyzed in the process of personality [de]formation throughout psychosexual development. The psychoanalysis, although it has mythological and philosophical elements, reveals to be a natural science with medicinal foundations, since Freud employs therapeutic techniques to overcome psychopathologies.  In the end, the search seeks to verify the extent to which Freud was able to improve his psychology, as a medical-philosophical system.
