Abstract

The object of the following paper is to analyzing the international poultry market and the Brazilian share between 2003 to 2012. For that, it was calculated the net export index and the Hirschman-Herfindahl index. It was also calculated the Relative Position in the Market and the Revealed Comparative Advantage. Via this research, it is noticeable the presence of a factor that is able to change the whole system in a very quick way, it is the Avian Influenza (“bird flu”), which is related to very expressive increases and decreases in the poultry exportation and importation by the main players. It can also be perceived, by IHH results, that poultry export market has a very high concentration level.
