Abstract

Biomass is a clean energy source and when used correctly has very little emissions. This paper presents the rice husk burning in a company of paddy sector in the city of Dom Pedrito - Rio Grande do Sul, for power generation, the shell over the destination and they are sent the ashes from burning, and the objective of studying the generation of energy by burning rice husk, quantifying the rice husks converted into energy as well as those not utilized in burning and the fate of ashes after burning. The methodological approach is characterized as a case study conducted in Coradini Food company, which was also applied structured questionnaire to survey data, the theoretical foundation was carried out through literature. With the burning of rice husk had become a major environmental problem caused by the release of harmful gases to the environment resulting from incorrect disposal of the same, while reducing costs for transportation and storage of bark, reduced hand labor, eliminated buying firewood, in addition, it enabled the generation of electric energy that today is one of the main factors to measure quality of life.
