Abstract

It was aimed, with this study, to evaluate PRONAF and its operationalization in the city of Unaí/MG, in the perspectives of family farmers, representatives of the Union of Rural Workers, Technical Assistance and Rural Extension companies – ATER and the financial agent. Field data were collected through unstructured and semi-structured interviews. Stand out among the main results: there are failures in the communication and dissemination of the program and little interaction between local actors; the formatting of the policy meets the needs of family farmers, but resources are poorly distributed; for most surveyed farmers, technical assistance, in practice, occurs only in the elaboration of the projects; the main difficulties pointed out by the respondents are related, mainly, to the performance of the financial agent, the commercialization of production and the deficiencies in technical assistance. PRONAF is positively perceived by local actors and family farmers.
