Abstract

This study approaches the technologic innovation, understood as an important factor that contributes to the development of the transformation industries in the municipality of Santa Cruz do Sul, located in Rio Grande do Sul State and, by consequence, to the regional development. We defend in this article the argument that the processes and products need to have technological feedback to proportionate businesses (especially industries here) a higher entrepreneurial competition in a globalized market. A exploratory study was made with 13 industries of transformation in the municipality of Santa Cruz do Sul to the verification of the degree of importance of technologic innovation as determining factor to the differentiation, specialty and singularities of industries, capable of enhancing its competitiveness. The researched industries showed great concern with a higher involvement of agents in following the changes that are happening in the world of globalization and that the process of innovation and technology involves financial and implementation obstacles, which represent, to the majority of the researched industries, the biggest difficulty. Then, in order to produce a result it is needed that actions happen in a coordinated way, enabling cooperation among all the agents, once there is a perception that the cooperation is more beneficial and does not eliminate the competitiveness.
