Abstract

This work aims to analyze in detail the changes in income per capita, income concentration, illiteracy and unemployment rates, considering the censitary area (metropolitan region, self representative and non-self representative municipalities), the censitary situation (urban and  rural), the country's region, gender and race during the period from 2003 to 2009. The research used the microdata of the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD/IBGE), applied in calculations of mean and concentration indexes. The results obtained showed a significant improvement in most of the variables analyzed. However, the regional and social differentiations are still observable, demanding a greater development in distributive public policies.
