Abstract

According to Adam (2011), the textual discourse analysis is a subarea of French Discourse Analysis (DA), which approximates to the manner it is designed by Maingueneau (1991 and 1995). However, it is possible to observe that some concepts revisited by Adam (2011), even though they are derived from Discourse Analysis early authors, such as Pêcheux (1969) and Foucault (1969), received different treatment, which requires some redefinitions. This article aims at discussing which DA traits are focused by Adam (2011), in order to constitute the textual discourse analysis with no theoretical contradictions. To do so, we went back to definitions such as interdiscourse, discursive formation and context, comparing to the treatments that these notions receive inside textual discourse analysis.
