Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the importance of discursive genre theory usage in the teaching of Japanese as a foreign language. Therefore, we briefly discuss some theory works from the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), British Analyzing Discourse and discursive genres over textual linguistics. Afterwards, based on these theory works, we analyze a discursive genre – a literary essay – aiming at illustrating how discursive genre work could be carried out in the process of teaching and learning Japanese in Brazil.
