ESTUDOS DA TRADUÇÃO – UMA BREVE REFLEXÃO SOBRE O UNIVERSO DA TRADUÇÃO LITERÁRIA SEGUNDO A OBRA TRANSLATION / HISTORY / CULTURE, DE LEFEVERE E BASSNETT

Abstract

In this paper we present the translation of the introduction to the work Translation / History / Culture, by André Lefevere and Susan Bassnett. When Translation Studies – before viewed as a mere complement of Linguistic or Literary Studies – reaches autonomy, without putting away their relations to linguistics and literature, we thought it would be pertinent to present the introduction of a work which points out and incentives the reflection about relevant aspects of literary translation. The translation of extracts in the introduction are indirect and do not recuperate stylistic marks of either authors or epochs, concentrating itself on the recuperation of sense in quoted extracts.
