Abstract

This work focuses on the cultural expression of the bolero and its importance in latin american identification. We studied this music gender  in terms of inflows received from lyric poetry, the quintessential expression of the artist's interiority. In this line we describe a recurrent theme in the boleros: the farewell. The farewell theme of the bolero and its relationship with events in three Spanish American novels, Perfume de Gardenia by Laura Antillano; Celia Cruz, reina Rumba, Umberto Valverde, Entre el oro y la carne, José Napoleon Oropeza.
