Abstract

By observing the narratives of the portuguese writer Maria Judith de Carvalho it is possible to notice the clearness with which the author portrays the failures arising from the strict condition to which the woman was subject, and within these frameworks, the time is a important element, either in plots where the characters, mostly women, bring back memories of a time "almost happy", or in those in which the hours become experienced threats of something to break. The many faces of that time and the life of the characters will be the subject of our trail.
