Abstract

This article is all about the Brazilian Sign Language´s borrowing –Libras- descendant from Portuguese Language –PL. This importation has got the specificity to be motivated by the PL´s written through Libras Manual Alphabet in which the form taken by the hands corresponds to the Letters of the Alphabet from PL. This research has descriptive character, is theoretically based on studies about other sign language´s borrowing and appropriates from the specific terminology of Faria-Nascimento (2009) to classify the borrowing sign of Libras. The research data were selected from an unique dictionary, later were classified and also tried to highlight those characteristics of the sign as well as the discussion about the difference between Pure Dactylology and Lexical Borrowing.
