Abstract

 The aim of the present papaer is to compare the translator´s role in the national languages development to the role that the translator and the translation  have been playing in the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras). Thus, is was worked with the most recent deaf and hearing translator´s history and with the role that they, along with some institutions, are still exerting for the enrichment of theBrazilian Sign Language (Libras), as well as to the consolidation of the deaf subject as a citizen with their own linguistics and cultual rights, apart from the ones previewed by the hearing Brazilian society.
