Abstract

In the face of a determinate textual genre, the interpreter uses different models of interpretation. By seeking to combine the pragmatic theory with the textual genre, this study aims to assess the extent to which textual genre influences on the construction of the pragmatic interpretation by the interpreter. In order to test this hypothesis it is examined two advertising texts of Lux soap (the 1951 campaign starred by Elizabeth Taylor, and those of 2003 that had Gisele Bündchen as its protagonist).
