A young adult novel and school tradition: reader comments on virtual social networks
Keywords:
Contemporary young adult novel, school tradition, author, reader comments.Abstract
In this article, we analyze reader comments on blogs and virtual social networks on the young adult novel Petrus Logus, The Guardian Of Time, by the known brazilian author of self-help genre, Augusto Cury. Mediated by the conception of literature as a value and an inalienable human right, as proposed by Antonio Candido (1988/1995), we present the thesis that the comments from the readers were influenced by the school tradition of working with the literary text to prioritize the external aspects of the text at the expense of those properly characteristic of literature.
