SEVERITY OF INJURIES AND THE MOST AFFECTED BODY REGIONS IN CHILDREN VICTIMS OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Objective: Was to systematically search the literature for studies that described the severity of injuries and the most affected body regions in children aged 0 to 12 years who were victims of traffic accidents. Method: Systematic review where the indexed databases were consulted: PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Lilacs, Embase, Cochrane, CINAHL and in the grey literature: Google scholar and Open Grey. Results: That the predominant location of injuries was the head, followed by the upper limbs, chest, skin and lower extremities. The severity of injuries is influenced by factors such as the location of the child at the time of the accident and the proper use of the restraint system. Conclusion: The proper use of the restraint system according to weight and age, always following the manufacturers' recommendations and current traffic regulations are protective measures that can prevent harm to children aged 0 to 12 years who were victims of traffic accidents.Downloads
