Abstract

The context of changes in which the Executive Secretariat (ES) is inserted nowadays is undeniable. We can cite, for example, the new perspective of the professional of Executive Secretariat as Manager, Consultant and Advisor within organizations and the concern in discussing the scientific characteristics of the profession. Meanwhile, from discussions proposed by the Studies Group in Executive Secretariat, GESET (Grupo de Estudos em Secretariado Executivo), from Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM), we aim  to discuss the position of undegraduate and graduate courses in Executive Secretariat, related to the epistemology of knowledge and interdisciplinary issues, aiming at achieving a transdisciplinary stage. This study is justified to attend the actual necessities of this professional class, because, considering the relevance of the Executive Secretary to the labor market, professors and students involved in Executive Secretariat faculties feel encouraged to discuss the position of their course as an entirely new science or an interdisciplinary area (discussions between a range of disciplines). From this discussion, we conclude that the ES area will develop further in research matters, if it has the collaboration of professors of related areas in order to promote interdisciplinary studies in the area, attempting to achieve the transdisciplinary practice, expanding and intensifying its performance in the labor market.
