Abstract

Several authors agree that the competitiveness of a nation consists in a set of variables reflecting in short, medium and long-term of social, economic and political performance of a society and managers that conduct it. In order to analyze the impact of entrepreneurship in the national competitiveness index, we used the quantitative method through statistical correlation analysis and longitudinal perspective. This research of positive paradigm and realist ontology aimed to analyze the temporal gap between the total rates of entrepreneurship by opportunity and necessity as well as its effects on the Brazilian competitiveness rate. The statistical model showed that with 99.04% reliability entrepreneurship rate reflects positively on national competitiveness after two years of business opening. With 99.96% reliability, the rate of entrepreneurship by necessity reflects negatively on competitiveness after a year of beginning of economic activity. Thus, the competitiveness of a nation feels the reflexes of entrepreneurship by chance after three years of the opening of business, the percentage of reliability of this relationship is 98.34%.
