This paper aims to understand the ideological views discursively constructed about the German society in terms of the work developed by this group in the city of Cândido Godói and its surroundings. To this end, we examined the book “Meus dois corpos” (My Two Bodies) (2007) by Anencir Flores da Silva and Jacinto Anatolio Zabolotsky, which deals with the presence of Germans in the region, including the alleged passage of the Nazi doctor Josef Menguele. Although it contains a number of elements relevant to discursive analysis, this study is concerned with how the concept of labor is interwoven in this book, thus revealing ideologies that support the forms of social relations in the region. Based on the thought of Bakhtin's circle, an analysis was developed in which the word as an ideological sign is a central unit of analysis. In this research, we have noted the prevalence of dominant ideologies that seek to confirm a society considered “ideal” with homogeneity as a pillar for the maintenance of certain social values. From this point of view, the work done by Germans and their descendants seems to be considered as something worthy and sacred, which in itself confirms the presence of this group in the region, regardless of whether they joined Nazism or not. As long as they are “workers”, this group can belong to the community and the region.
