Abstract

The new coronavirus (COVID-19) is responsible for one of the biggest pandemics in history. The SARS-CoV2 mutation has had a great impact on the world, leading to numerous harms on the human body. Among them, it was discovered that COVID-19 is capable of causing neurological disorders with changes in memory, concentration, smell, taste, among others. This research’s objective is to verify the neurological changes in students who had COVID-19. Materials and Methods: quantitative and exploratory study, with application of questionnaires to students who were diagnosed with Covid-19 at the Centro Universitário Assis Gurgacz de Cascavel-PR in the years 2021 and 2022. Results: The main changes found were that 71.4% of the interviewees had difficulty concentrating and smell alteration. 76.2% had memory difficulties, as well as 81% had greater fatigue. In addition, 66.7% had difficulty of reasoning. Conclusion: According to the results obtained, it can be concluded that there was interference in the daily life of academics, for short periods, where all the variables questioned presented a significant percentage of alterations. However, the ones that had the most symptomatic highlight are related to the alteration of smell in a percentage 71.4% and fatigue with 81%.
