Abstract

Stillbirth is characterized by the death of the conceptus inside the uterus or during childbirth, being considered a stillbirth at term when the gestation is more than 37 weeks and is usually associated with obstetric, fetal and maternal conditions. A patient with gestational age of 38 weeks and 5 days had a change in the perception of fetal movements and uterine contractions, was referred to the reference hospital where fetal death was found due to the absence of heartbeat, being performed cesarean section. Patient evolved with mood alteration, underwent the mourning process, requiring drug and psychiatric management. The diagnosis of fetal death can be done through clinical examination and confirmed by image exams. Investigation of the cause of the stillbirth is mandatory and necessary by the Reference Hospital. The most obvious comorbidity that may have contributed was grade 3 of obesity.
