Abstract

The present article is about one of the most controversial topics of sociology, present since the classical studies: the relationship between individual and society. The maingoal is to show how this dual relationship is presented in two works of particular authors, whose productions have brought great intellectual contribution to contemporary sociologicaltheory: the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu and the German sociologist Norbert Elias. The paper analyzes the theoretical conceptions of the relationship between individual andsociety in various works of these two authors, emphasizing those that deal with socialtrajectories. The analysis results presented indicate that, despite having different origins, the theoretical concepts of these two authors on the subject have many affinities.
