Abstract

This article is the result from studies developed in the Mythical and the Social in the Contemporary Youth Literature with a focus for the analysis of the work “The fault is of the stars” (2012), by John Green. In this analysis are presented the cultural elements which are found in the innerstoryline and in the context of the work, as the ritesof love passageand the death experienced by the protagonist, Hazel Grace and her boyfriend, Augustus Waters. Besides, the resonances are raised, the discursive echoes produced by the author and by the readers of the work, with basis in the theorical contributions of Kristeva, Mircea Eliade (1992), Antonio Candido (2002), Colomer(2003), among others.
