Cinema and Education: The relation between the use of movies as a pedagogical resource and learning through, the students` perspective.
Keywords:
Movies, Pedagogical Resource, Meaningful Learning.Abstract
This article is a result of qualitative research made with Basic Education students, from two public schools in Curitiba, by means of semi-structured questions, which present and analyze the students´ opinions on the use of commercial movies as a pedagogical resource. Although movies are cinematographic works, essentially thought and produced for entertainment purposes, we might think of them as audiovisual resources with pedagogical reasons, able to encourage students to pay attention. In this regard, movies become a pedagogical resource to assist classes arising the students´ interest, with an educational potential, capable of stimulating learning and, among the technologies used at school, they can be considered as a relevant didactic-pedagogical ally. The objective was to identify and discuss the flaws in the use of such technological resource to better adapt it as a pedagogical instrument for teachers. In this way, according to the students’ answers obtained, analysis and discussions were made based on the Meaningful Learning theory by Ausubel, Novak e Hanesian (1980), and the thoughts of Rosália Duarte (2009), José Manuel Moran (2005), among others. Such analysis contributed to present possibilities of pedagogical directions to assist the pedagogical work of teachers who make use of such resource, providing them with important results in the teaching of scientific contents in class.Downloads
