Writer Carolina Maria de Jesus: Legitimizing her place in the history of Brazilian literature
Keywords:
Brazilian literary canon, Autofiction, African-female literature.Abstract
It has long been denied to the Carolina Maria de Jesus (1914-1977) he space, or status, of a writer. Carolina de Jesus is mentioned in the Dicionário crítico de escritoras brasileiras (2002), conceived by Nelly Novaes Coelho (1922-2017), as a memorialist. In this way, we intend to question this denial, as well as the gap that there is in the history of Brazilian literature, when we speak of the Carolina de Jesus. For this, we analyze the Child of the Dark: The Diary (1960) Realizing how the writer ficcionaliza her life, reflecting on her condition of Brazilian black woman literate resident in a slum paulista. It is from the concept of Autofiction (DUARTE, 2010) that we will seek the legitimacy of the resistant texts (SOMMER, 1994) of the writer. These texts require another form of critical reading, as they depart from the "margins" and present peculiarities that need to be taken into account. Finally, we realized that the space denied to the Carolina of Jesus part of a gym that restricts the margins and encastels the literature from the Canon hegemonic crystallized. However, the African female literature (SANTIAGO, 2012) comes to question this gap and make room for other writers to occupy this place of law in literary historiography.
