Our article presents preliminary reflections regarding the narrative concepts,
experience and memory in Walter Benjamin and some notes on verbal history. In the
attempt to apprehend the substratum of the sexuality imaginary of the initial years teachers
of the basic education - our current subject of inquiry -, we opt to Thematic Verbal History
as metodological instrument, for considering it a possibility of interlacing the orality with
the writing, for in there´s distinct values. In elapsing of the work with collaborators verbal
histories, for the process of understanding of the narratives we perceived the requirement
of the theoretical apprehension of the experience concepts, memory and narrative, which
gain meaning from the dialogue with Walter Benjamin. We identified, also with the
teacher´s interviews, the difficulty to interchange experiences, what, according to this same
theoretician, can be the result of the new form of work organization in the modern
capitalism, of the workers´ specialization in specific functions, the division in different
places and spaces, of the acceleration of the productive process, aspects that unchain the
individual, solitary experiences, and of its symbolic death. With base in these references, the
teacher´s lines - collaborators of the research that originated these initial theoretical
reflections - will be considered as narratives full of lived experiences, socialization of
traditions, sensibility, images, individual histories constructed in collective history, of
people located in one determined place and is about this place they talk, they feel, they
recollect, they mean and re-mean.
