ORPHENIC SINGING: THE PRESENCE OF ESTADO NOVO

The present article has as objective the project of musical education known Orpheonic Singing, developed by Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959), in Brazil, and adopted officially in Brazilian public education since 1932. The objective considered in this work is to perceive the political logics that are implied in its relation with the Estado Novo. The theoretical referencial is based on the Ivor Goodson ideaas i the History of Disciplines.The method used for the collection of data in this research is Documental Analysis. It is verified that the nationalistic content of the repertoire associated with the uprising of Getúlio Vargas in the orpheonic concentrations fulfilled an important political and educational function for a country that searched an affirmation as a nation.
