This article presents reflections on the relationship between literature and inclusive theater, because we understand that beyond to the artistic and creative potential, theater is a valuable resource for expressing feelings and ideas, as well as promoting respect for opinions and diversity. For the organization and execution of the play that aimed to promote cultural inclusion and give visibility to linguistic and cultural issues of deaf people, we had the participation of academics from the Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul- UFFS, campus of Realeza, PR, that compose the theater group “Turma da Inventação”. The work Marcelo, Marmelo, Martelo (2011) by Ruth Rocha served as inspiration for the play. In this study, we have as theoretical substrate, authors such as -Roland Barthes (1987, 2004); Haroldo de Campos (2006); Augusto Boal (1988); Maria Lucia Pupo (1991,1997); Karin Strobel (2008). The methodology used was action-research, through dramaturgy workshops and study meetings about the expression of art through theater and the relationship with deaf culture, in addition to teaching and learning Libras to actors. The inclusive theater project enabled the academics, the experience with the scenic text, as a way of expressing feelings and discussing conflicts in the context itself and contributed to raising the awareness of the academic community and the external community to important topics such as cultural accessibility.
