At the beginning of the second semester of 2007 we started our work plan
development “Culture and Counterculture in Clarice Lispector (from 1970 to nowadays)” as
scientific researchers in initiation for PIBIC/CNPq. Our research studies the book The Hourof The Star (1977), by Clarice Lispector, taking the theoretical-critic bases from the CulturalStudies and the Comparative Literature Studies. The main aims are: discuss the writer's novel
through the real Brazilian cultural context in the 1970s, think about the relationship between
literature and culture through the Cultural Studies and make a cultural reading on the works of
the intellectual writer based on the counterculturalcontext at that time. We critically read thewriter's works and some specialized books which helped us raise hypotheses, all proved
during the research, about the creative process of the culture object in its social, historical and
ideological scene. It is worth pointing out that as the hypotheses were being proved, we did
some scientific studies which are already published in books, national and international
magazines. Finally, our studies suggest that the analysed work proposes a critical review not
only about the moment under discussion, but mainly about all Clarice Lispector's previous
creation. In other words, her last creation offers us a critical review about her modernistic
previous books.
