Abstract

The present article is meant to discuss five conferences given by Michel Foucault

at Pontifícia Universidade Católica, in Rio de Janeiro, 1973, which joined together brought out

the book “A Verdade e as Formas Jurídicas”. The main objective of this paper is to trace a broad

view of the author’s conception of a historical research and how domains of knowledge could be

formed through history from social practices. This panorama comprehends the rise of inquest in

greek society to the sytem idealized by Benthan – the Panopticon, which, according to Foucault,

generated characteristic mechanisms of control performed in our society. verdade, inquérito,
