The present article is meant to discuss five conferences given by Michel Foucault
at Pontifícia Universidade Católica, in Rio de Janeiro, 1973, which joined together brought out
the book “A Verdade e as Formas Jurídicas”. The main objective of this paper is to trace a broadview of the author’s conception of a historical research and how domains of knowledge could be
formed through history from social practices. This panorama comprehends the rise of inquest in
