This paper aims to discuss, briefly, the similarity of construction of the female in two literary works from different periods. The embodiment of saint or witch given to women in the Middle Ages, found in the novel El casamiento misleading copy of Miguel de Cervantes, Spanish literature, and similar characterizations at the women in the nineteenth century, the novel Memoirs of a sergeant of militia Brazil by Manuel Antônio de Almeida.
