The present article has as main study objects the short story written by Maria Lúcia Medeiros - born in Pará, Brazil – called “Chuvas e Trovoadas” and the film with the same title, made by Flávia Alfinito. Both stories have as main focus a girl who seems to not fit in a society with rigid habits. Her attitudes appear to be rebel but they have meanings deeper than they seem to be. This work intends to interpret some of the main character’s actions, analyze the meaning of the reading in the society the girls lives in and also intends to study, in a comparative analyses, the short story’s passage to the big screen. To do so, it will be used writers such as Remak, Pellegrini and Carrière.
