ROCK AND DICTATORSHIP: JOY AS STRATEGY
Keywords:
rock nacional, dictadura militar, cuerpo, resistencia.Abstract
This article presents a research development that exposes a first approach to our subject, oriented towards the reconstruction and analysis of a series of artistic and cultural activities that took place in Argentina since the late 70's and 80's, and we've included in what the artist and sociologist Roberto Jacoby defined as “strategy of joy”. During the years of the last military dictatorship, that strategy was deployed primarily from the rock / pop group Virus, led by Federico Moura and in which Jacoby had a central role (as song writer, set designer and costume designer of the shows). During the democratic transition until 1989's the "strategy of joy " continued from a series of neighborhood festivals, performances, recitals and exhibitions that formed a corrosive and carefree "under moved" which modernized and vitalized the art scene in Buenos Aires. Here we present a critical review of research that dealt with rock in Argentina, focusing on the rock / pop group Virus and the national rock field during the last dictatorship and the early years of democratic transition.
