Abstract

To build the personal identity requires relationships between the subject and the context in which this one is inserted and the way that this subject deals with him/herself, reflecting them. Regarding the belief that literary works have the power to question social structures through the novel gender, the objective of this study is showing the character Irie Jones in the novel White Teeth (2000), in which the figure of woman and her offspring point her duality along the narrative, making her search an active positioning and personal conquers to question the hostile environment coming from the novel character of hero structured by Fehér.
