Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the conceptions of the body among fourth-year Physical Education Licentiate students at UNIOESTE. The research adopted a qualitative approach with nine students, analyzing their responses through categorized associations. The results indicated a significant division between two conceptions: the body as a biological object and the body as an integrated unit that interacts with the environment. The influence of cultural and academic factors was evident in shaping these perceptions. It is concluded that a more integrated pedagogical approach in the Physical Education curriculum is necessary, promoting a holistic view of the body that encompasses both biological and human-social aspects.
