Abstract

This article analyzes the importance of Research Ethics Committees (RECs) in Brazil, highlighting their role in regulating studies involving human subjects. The objective is to emphasize the need for ethical control in scientific production, ensuring respect for human dignity. The proposed reflection is based on the RECs' role in mediating between researchers and bioethical principles. It is concluded that RECs should not be mere bureaucratic obstacles but reflective instances that promote ethical progress in science.
