Given the Brazilian reality after REUNI (Restructuring and Expansion of Federal Universities), with the expansion of universities and increased access to university, this research aims to carry out an integrative review of the literature on the impacts of work during university life, for undergraduate students. , providing an overview of access and permanence policies at federal public universities. This review includes the survey and analysis of scientific articles and official reports from federal institutions and government agencies, such as INEP (National Institute of Studies and Educational Research Anísio Teixeira) and MEC (Ministry of Education). The study selection process was based on inclusion and exclusion criteria defined a priori, ensuring that only the most relevant and highest quality works were considered. The results indicate that work during the academic trajectory can negatively affect students' performance and well-being, highlighting the importance of effective support policies. By analyzing the challenges faced by beneficiaries of these retention policies, we seek to provide support that contributes to the improvement of future public policies and institutional strategies, aiming to consolidate a more inclusive and effective higher education model.
