Abstract

This paper discusses the Sociology in high school arguing thatthe initiation promoted at this level can not be reduced to a ‘streamlinedteaching’ of some concepts, authors or subjects of social sciences as wellnot be confused with an 'education for citizenship', but should be directedto the attitudes and behaviors expected of a person who goes through thisprocess. In the first part discuss the concept of 'citizenship' in LDB andother reference texts and denounces the conservative character of the ideaof ‘Education for citizenship’, and in the second, discourse on the conceptof 'literacy', arguing that by referring to the set of social practices associatedwith the acquired knowledge this concept broadens the horizons of reflectionon teaching sociology.
