Abstract

This article aims to present, from the application of a dictation, data on occurrences of deviations related to the graphic representation of the strong "R" (fricative velar, glottal or multiple alveolar vibration) and the weak "r" (tepe) in the written productions of the students of two classes of the 2nd year of Elementary Education in public educational institutions. Theoretically, this research is inserted in the field of Applied Linguistics and, methodologically, it is directed to the study by the qualitative paradigm with an interpretative approach and the research method used is action research, since the researchers are inserted in the analyzed context. The investigation was carried out through the elaboration and application of a Didactic Unit of diagnostic character, whose results demonstrate the outstanding realization of the weak "r" in medial intervocalic contexts in which the use of the strong "R" was expected, evidencing the influence of orality on writing, since we identify this realization in the speech of the participants, as a result of the immigration of languages of European origin, mainly Germanic, present in the community. The deviations caused by the interference of the learner's dialect can be taken as elements that condition the level of phonetic-phonological reflection of the language and orthographic knowledge. Given the data collected, it is important that teachers deepen their knowledge about the phonetic-phonological level of the language so that they can understand the nature of the deviations that students present and lead them precisely to understand how the language works and the alphabetic writing system.
