It’s truthful to say that the pronominal use of yo (“I” in english) has been studied by several linguists and by different points of view. To try to understand deeply, the present study seek to observe the attenuation strategies used in cases of deixis omissions represented by the singular first person pronoun, the yo, under a social pragmatic perspective. To achieve this, we adhere the qualitative methodological approach and, about the objectives, descriptive, given that we described the data in lighted by a few authors such as Cantero (1976) and Serrano (2014) when it comes to pragmatics studies about the pronoun omission; Briz (2005), Gomes (2013) e Benveniste (1976) with regards to the studies about strategic attenuation. Beyond this and considering the research procedure, according with the studies of Bauer, Gaskell and Allum (2002), the research frames itself as a sampling survey, given that the analysis is brought through description of characteristics and the linguistic profile from a certain community. Through studies and analyzes, we verified, from the results, that the context was the factor that affected the most in the attenuation cases by the omission of deictic in the selected statements.
