Abstract

Objective: To identify the effects of continuing health education on patient safety in nursing care.  Methods: Integrative review of the literature developed in six stages, with the search for studies in the months of February and March 2024, in the databases EMBASE, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, Web of Science and Cumulative Index of Nursing to Allied Health Literature. Primary studies were included, without a time frame, in Portuguese, English and/or Spanish, which used educational activities and with pre- and post-educational intervention evaluation. The data were analyzed descriptively. Results: Of the 1777 records, five made up the final sample. Continuing education contributed to adherence to safety/prevention protocols, reducing adverse events and promoting their notification. Final thoughts: The results show positive effects of continuing education in promoting safe nursing care.
